2019 GWSCPA Annual Award Winners

GWSCPA is pleased to announce the 2019 Greater Washington Society of CPAs Awards Winners! The awards will be awarded today at the Annual Membership Meeting. 

This year's award categories are as follows:

Outstanding Member in Business & Industry

This award is for a GWSCPA Member who works in business and industry, and makes substantial and noteworthy contributions to the success and growth of their employer, or who has shown exemplary entrepreneurial achievement and who has made a notable contribution to the growth and enhancement of the profession.   

 

Awarded to: Stanley Berman, CPA, Nonprofit CFO Services

 

Outstanding Member in Public Practice: 

This award is for a GWSCPA Member who works in Public Practice, and makes substantial and noteworthy contributions to the success and growth of their firm, and who has made a notable contribution to the growth and enhancement of the profession.   

 

Awarded to: R. Michael Sorrells, CPA, Tate & Tryon, CPAs

 

Outstanding Member in Government

This award is for GWSCPA members working in federal, state or local government, who make substantial and noteworthy contributions to the success and growth of their organization, as well as notable contributions to the growth and enhancement of the profession. 

 

Awarded to: Robert Todero, CPA, DC Board of Accountancy

 

Outstanding Young & Emerging Professional Leader

This award is for a GWSCPA Member who is under 35, or has fewer than 5 years in the profession.  Nominees should demonstrate leadership skills, professional achievement, community contribution, and dedication to the CPA profession through their involvement with the GWSCPA.

 

Awarded to: Lauren Sipple, CPA, KPMG, LLP

Outstanding Service to the Profession

This award is for a GWSCPA member in any field, who have demonstrated a dedication and given of themselves to advance the accounting profession, or the GWSCPA.  They may demonstrate this through service to the GWSCPA as a member of the board of governors, a committee chairperson, participating in government relations efforts, or through service to another organization, such as the AICPA, the Board of Accountancy, and have contributed to the strength of the accounting profession.

 

Awarded to Daniel Lynch, Kforce

 

Women to Watch Experienced Leader

This award is for women CPAs who have made notable contributions to the accounting profession, their organizations and the development of women as leaders (defined as: one who has advanced to a higher level or leadership position within the organization. Titles include, but are not limited to: partner, owner, elected official or appointee, executive, etc.) *Nominee must be a member in good standing with both AICPA and GWSCPA. 

 

Awarded to Jenny Herrera, CPA, Citrin Cooperman

 

Women to Watch Emerging Leader

This award is for women CPAs who have demonstrated characteristics that will enable them to become leaders in the profession (defined as: a professional who has made a significant contribution to the profession and her community, but who has not yet reached the highest levels of advancement) *Nominee must be a member in good standing with both AICPA and GWSCPA.
