Deadline Approaching for GFOA’s Awards for Excellence in Government Finance
(Chicago, Illinois – February 22, 2019) Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Awards for Excellence in Government Finance recognize innovative programs and contributions to the practice of government finance that exemplify outstanding financial management. The awards stress practical, documented work that offers leadership to the profession and promotes improved public finance.
Entries may be submitted for consideration in one of the following Awards for Excellence categories:
Creative Solution to Common Challenge
Exceptionally Well Implemented GFOA Best Practice
Criteria examined when considering an application for the award include: local significance and value, originality, implementation, and overall contribution to the government finance profession. Membership in GFOA is not required to apply for an award.

Award winners will be notified by April 5, and winners will receive up to two (2) complimentary registrations to be recognized at GFOA’s 113th Annual Conference, May 19–22 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, California. The conference is expected to bring together over 4,000 government finance officers through more than 75 sessions, ten preconference seminars, three keynote speakers, an exhibit hall, discussion groups and networking opportunities including a welcome breakfast and closing event.
