Assistant Controller needed for fast paced, growing mission based firm. Candidate must have BS in Accounting, be a CPA or a CPA candidate, 6 years government contracting experience with three years as a supervisor.
AFSC has experienced significant growth over the past several years and has the immediate need to hire a highly motivated and seasoned financial professional to contribute to their ongoing development. This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller. Candidate must have a positive attitude, ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing and developing staff, and must be able to cultivate cross-department relationships effectively. Candidate must have BS in Accounting, be a CPA or a CPA candidate, 6 years government contracting experience with three years as a supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include managing the following functions: financial reporting, general ledger, fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and treasury. Specific responsibilities in support of these functions include:
Manage and mentor staff to foster teamwork and staff development. Cultivate cross-department relationships. Ability to work with multi-functional teams.
Direct the month-end close. Prepare journal entries, reconcile and analyze accounts for closing. Prepare appropriate reports for variance analysis and recommend corrective action.
Prepare annual DCAA Incurred cost submission.
Prepare 401k financial statements.
Oversee accurate and timely processing of general accounting transactions. Monitor potential problems and find resolutions to mitigate issues.
Institute best practices for cash management addressing billing, collections and treasury cycles. Perform monthly or more frequent cash forecasting as required.
Assist Controller with year end preparation for annual audits.
Perform as a backup for your team’s functions.
Requirements & Qualifications:
BS in Accounting from an accredited university.
6 years of progressive experience in the government contracting professional services industry with three or more years of supervisory experience.
Strong background in general ledger and accounting operations management.
Well versed in government contracts compliance, FAR and CAS.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Positive attitude and ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment while managing and developing staff.
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
Deltek Costpoint or GCS and Time and Expense experience preferred.
System conversion and/or new system implementation experience a plus.
Ability to pass a credit and background check.
