Seasonal Experienced Tax Preparer, part time,

 

Arlington, Virginia CPA firm is seeking an experienced part time tax preparer for tax season (February to April 14th, 2019). The position is on-site. We seek a minimum of 20 hours per week but more may be available during the peak of the season. We anticipate a start date of approximately the week of February 18, 2019. There is a possibility of additional hours after tax season. Successful applicant would ideally return for future tax seasons.

Job Title
: Staff Accountant 

Salary Range: $60,000- $70,000 a year

Reports to: Accounting Manager 

Job Summary: Responsible for the processing and reconciling of ASHP high volume customer accounts.  Assures the proper and timely application of payments and unapplied receipts.  Prepares general ledger account reconciliations.  Works with the Accounts Receivable (AR) team and other ASHP departments to research and resolve any open AR account balances. 

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Reconciles distributor and sales agent accounts. This includes the application of payments; the review of orders and returns; and the monitoring of outstanding account balances. 

2.     Monitors other AR accounts and assist in sending customer invoices as needed. 

3.     Monitors unapplied receipts and follows set procedures for such receipts.  

4.     Submits various invoices through customer online invoice portals. 

5.     Prepares general ledger account analyses and reconciliations for various accounts. 

6.     Prepares audit schedules for annual financial audit. 

7.     Reviews and verifies customer credit terms. 

8.     Acts as a backup for the AR Accountant when needed. 

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

·     Four year degree in accounting.
·     Experience or knowledge of accrual accounting, reconciliations and GAAP.
·     Nonprofit organization experience a plus.
·     Strong technical accounting skills.
·     Analytical thinking.
·     Decision making.
·     Excellent communication skills.
·     Personal credibility.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position will work closely with the Treasurer to manage the accounting and financial operations for the church.   Successful candidate must have a desire to work in a Christian church environment. Job duties are summarized below:

·  Accounts payable: processes vendor payments and reimbursements and prepares year-end 1099s
·  Cash receipts: enters deposits into GL, inputs donations, prepares donor statements
·  Credit card expenses: records in the GL and maintains supporting documentation
·  Payroll: maintains employee files, submits payroll for processing, ensures employee information is accurate and that tax filings are submitted by processor for 941, W-2, W-3
·  Assists the part-time controller with the monthly close 
·  Monthly Reports: prepares budget analysis, cash flow, and other reports as needed
·  Annual Budgets: assists Treasurer with developing the annual budget by analyzing historical trends involving member  giving and church spending
·  Performs analysis of financial data as needed to assist the Vestry and Treasurer with planning
·  Audit: assists Treasurer & part-time controller with preparing schedules, pulling audit samples, and answering questions for the annual audit
·  Communicates areas of financial concern to Rector and Treasurer in a timely manner
