Structured Finance Industry Group, Inc. (“SFIG”) is a member-based, trade industry advocacy group focused on improving and strengthening the broader structured finance and securitization market. SFIG provides an inclusive network for securitization professionals to collaborate and, as industry leaders, drive necessary changes, be an advocate for the securitization community, share best practices and innovative ideas, and educate industry members through conferences and other programs. JOB   DESCRIPTION

 

 The Company Accountant will be an integral member of SFIG staff, with responsibility for all accounting and finance-related functions.  The Company Accountant will oversee the accounting operations of SFIG, SFIG Foundation and SF Coalition. He/She will be accountable for providing timely and accurate processing of all day-to-day revenue and expenses. Additionally, he/she will be required to manage the monthly and annual financial reporting and tax compliance functions. He/She will liaison with the external audit team assist in preparing financial statements and tax filings. The Company Accountant will also be required to manage budgets and strategic forecasting activities.

SFIG will be expanding its in house event management by taking on sole organizing responsibility for all SFIG conferences in 2019. The Company Accountant will be charged with integrating all finance aspects of the conference business model into the current company operations.

Serving as a key member under the administrative team, the Company Accountant will work closely with the firm’s Executive Director, SFIG staff and the firm’s external auditors. Therefore, he/she must possess strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.  

 

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

 

 Responsibilities wouldinclude:

  • Preparing accurate and timely quarterly management accounts and forecasts for presentation to the Board of Directors;
  • Preparing projected financial statements;
  • Managing and preparing financial information to facilitate budget preparation and planning;
  • Serving as liaison with external accountants in regards to the annual audit and tax preparation;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of bringing event management in-house;
  • Reconciling bank statements and credit card statements;
  • Preparing eliminating entries and consolidated financial statements, including tracking and invoicing intercompany receivables and payables;
  • Managing monthly membership reconciliation, accruals, and reclassification of revenues;
  • Performing federal and state annual filings for all entities, to include Delaware, New York, and other relevant states;
  • Sending 1099-Misc tax reports to relevant vendors;
  • Developing procedures around new initiatives as they arise;
  • Training and subsequently supervising the work of the Accounting Assistant (including, but not limited to, preparation of invoices and past due statements, management of the fixed assets register, reconciliation of third-party payroll accounts, accounts payable transactions, routine journal entries, and processing credit card transactions).

 

As a representative of the premier securitization trade organization, the successful candidate is expected to have strong communication, writing and mathematical skills, along with a keen attention to detail. The candidate will demonstrate initiative, independence, leadership, and will be forward-thinking and autonomous in addressing the organization’s business needs. Additionally, he/she will use critical thinking and good judgment to make decisions and ensure follow up actions are taken.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a public accounting firm. Non-profit accounting experience preferred. CPA License is    strongly desired
  •  Strong computer skills – Quickbooks and MS Office Suite required
  •  Strong multi-tasking, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
  •  Previous supervisor experience

 

EDUCATION

An undergraduate degree is required
