Overview

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, has an outstanding opportunity for a Staff Accountant.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will perform routine accounting procedures in support of monthly and year-end accounting, reconciliation and closing activities. The Staff Accountant will reconcile all bank accounts for EEI and related entities monthly, and prepare reconciliations for other balance sheet accounts, which may include accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other liability accounts. Will also be responsible for the preparation and processing of journal entries, budget amendments, monthly entries and maintenance of account strings. Will also maintain member dues statistics portal, prepare and maintain reports used for regulatory reporting, and perform research for tax return disclosures.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of applicable experience in an accounting department with account reconciliation experience desired.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
  • Strong computer skills (excel and accounting systems).
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and time management skills with the ability to multitask and handle competing priorities.
