FAF Trustees Announce New Appointment to FASB
On Tuesday, the FAF Trustees announced the appointment of Christine Ann Botosan to the FASB. Christine will replace Tom Linsmeier, who retires from the Board when his second and final term concludes on June 30, 2016.
Christine currently serves as a Professor of Accounting at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. Her term will begin on July 1, 2016 and conclude on June 30, 2021, when she will be eligible for appointment to another five-year term.
Christine has a broad knowledge of accounting issues, with particular expertise in the areas of financial statement analysis and valuation. Her understanding of financial reporting from a variety of perspectives will be an asset to the Board, especially as we consider new projects and the future direction of our technical agenda.
During Tom’s ten years of distinguished service, he played an instrumental role in the Board’s efforts to improve financial reporting in the often-challenging areas of revenue recognition, financial instruments, and leases. As the Board’s liaison with other international standard-setters, Tom has had a positive and lasting impact on efforts to promote high-quality, comparable accounting standards across the globe.
My fellow FASB members and I look forward to welcoming Christine to the Board, and to celebrating Tom’s accomplishments as he completes his term.
