The FISC-Federal Issues and Standards Committee
The GAAC Committee informs members of developments in federal, state and local government accounting and auditing, works to stimulate interest in all levels of government to participate in GWSCPA activities and co-sponsors programs with other organizations as appropriate.
The Government Contracting Committee is responsible for monitoring issues and trends in the government contracting arena and providing a forum for GWSCPA members in this industry for education and networking. The committee hosts technical sessions every other month featuring a one hour CPE qualifying speaker on issues of interest to government contractors and the CPAs that work with them. The group meets occasionally between CPE sessions in order to plan for future events.
The GWSCPA Not-For-Profit Organizations Financial Accountability Task Force has developed a web site to serve as a national resource for not-for-profit organizations thanks to the generous support of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation and several other site sponsors.
The Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee plays the premiere leadership role to area CPAs in public and private practice addressing not-for-profit client service, education and representation issues impacting the work of CPAs and their not-for-profit clients. The committee holds monthly technical sessions from September through July of each year, which features a guest speaker and combines one hour of qualifying continuing professional education (CPE) on a relevant topic to committee members and their clients/organizations. Each session is followed by a short meeting on committee business.
The Tax Committee helps GWSCPA members obtain guidance on tax issues ranging from technical questions to tax agency relations. The committee holds periodic technical sessions outside of tax season and represents the GWSCPA’s members in tax with local regulators and practitioner groups. Each technical meeting features a guest speaker and combines qualifying continuing professional education (CPE) on a relevant topic to committee members and their clients/organizations. A short meeting follows each session to discuss committee business.
The YEA Committee exists to be the premier accounting organization that facilitates the establishment, development, and advancement of existing GWSCPA members who are either under 36 years old, new to the profession, or seeking to enter the profession. YEA members benefit from various leadership opportunities within the group and the community, technical and soft-skill continuing education sessions, and networking events with peers and industry leaders from the GWSCPA board.
