The District of Columbia is home to more not-for-profit organizations than any other city in the world. As the Society’s largest committee with well over 100 members, the Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee plays the premiere leadership role to area CPAs in public and private practice addressing not-for-profit client service, education and representation issues impacting the work of CPAs and their not-for-profit clients.
The committee holds monthly technical sessions from September through May of each year. Each meeting combines one hour of qualifying continuing professional education (CPE) on a relevant topic to committee members and their clients/organizations. Such topics have recently included proposed revisions to SOP 87-2 on allocating fund-raising costs, changes to OMB circular A-133, the current state of IRS UBIT enforcement and the new Intermediate Sanctions legislation. Each session is followed by a short meeting on committee business. Committee members are required to attend four monthly meetings during the year as a condition of their committee membership.

Each year participants are treated to dynamic and informative sessions led by a virtual who's who of audit, accounting, tax and technology experts.
