Staff Accountant 

ASIS International, a professional membership organization located in Alexandria, VA with 34,000 global members, is seeking candidates with a strong financial acumen to serve as a Staff Accountant. 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for cash receipt entries, bank and other assigned general ledger accounts reconciliations, and reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers for ASIS International and the ASIS Foundation. Manages staff credit card and expense reimbursement processing. Prepares monthly roll-forward schedules, PBC items and gathers documentation in preparation for fiscal year audit and tax returns. Coordinates customer inquiries, and assists with gathering of data for tax, VAT, and other compliance reporting. 

A successful candidate will possess: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with at least 1-3 years of general ledger maintenance and demonstrated success performing account reconciliations. Must possess a basic understanding of GAAP. 
  • Experience understanding system processing and troubleshooting of AP/AR.  
  • Excellent computer skills including experience using corporate accounting software and the Microsoft Office suite. Should have intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel.  

 

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting 
  • Experience with the preparation of financial statements. 
  • Experience using Sage Intacct, AP systems (e.g. Mineral Tree), and Association Management Systems (netFORUM preferred).   
  • Experience with credit card systems and liaising with a 3rd party credit card vendor. 
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting or membership organization

They must be very organized, able to track and document information in detail, and have a track record of consistently meeting deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
