CFO & Controller Conference Planning Committee
The CFO & Controller Conference Committee assists GWSCPA staff in planning our annual CFO & Controller Conference. Committee members will hold approximately three planning sessions, with each session lasting about an hour, to discuss sessions, speakers, and other aspects of the program.

This is an open forum for GWSCPA members in finance to discuss hot topics of the day and to gain new perspectives, ideas and resources from their peers. This group is only open to those in CFO and Controller roles.

Diversity and Inclusion Task Force
The GWSCPA has recently re-ignited our Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. That group is actively meeting to develop initiatives to address discrimination, bias and inequity affecting minorities in the accounting profession.

The EBP Conference Planning Committee assists GWSCPA staff with planning our annual Employee Benefit Plans Conference.

Federal Issues and Standards Commiittee
The FISC reviews and evaluates proposed new Federal accounting and auditing standards; monitors and evaluates proposed legislation affecting the profession; addresses issues related to Federal agency financial statements and audits; and serves as a liaison with federal standard setting groups and regulators. Financial Literacy and Educ Outreach Committee
The Financial Literacy and Educational Outreach Committee has two functions in the community. With a stable of members who serve as a speaker’s bureau, we are dedicated to improving financial literacy in the Greater Washington area through eductaional presentations, as well as promoting the CPA profession through outreach to area schools.

The GovCon Conference Planning Committee assists GWSCPA staff with planning our annual Government Contracting Conference.

The GAA Section informs members of developments in federal, state and local government accounting and auditing, works to stimulate interest in all levels of government to participate in GWSCPA activities and co-sponsors programs with other organizations as appropriate.

Nonprofit Basics Task Force
The GWSCPA Nonprofit Financial Accountability Task Force is a nation-wide collaborative comprised of members of the accounting and nonprofit communities that seek to strengthen the nonprofit sector in the US by improving financial accountability in the sector through ongoing education initiatives and robust discussion of current topics.

Nonprofit Finance & Accounting Academy Planning Committee
The Nonprofit Academy Planning Committee assists GWSCPA staff in planning our annual virtual Nonprofit Finance & Accounting Academy. Committee members will hold approximately three planning sessions, with each session lasting about an hour, to discuss sessions, speakers, and other aspects of the program.

Nonprofit Section
The Nonprofit Section plays the premiere leadership role to area CPAs in public and private practice addressing not-for-profit client service, education and representation issues impacting the work of CPAs and their not-for-profit clients. The section holds monthly technical sessions from September through July of each year, which features a guest speaker and combines one hour of qualifying continuing professional education (CPE) on a relevant topic to section members and their clients/organizations. Each session is followed by a short meeting on committee business.
Save the dates- meetings usually take place the last Thursday of the month.

Nonprofit Symposium Planning Committee
The Nonprofit Symposium Planning Committee is composed of members from the Nonprofit Section who are interested in helping making our annual Symposium a success. Committee members will meet after Section meetings and discuss sessions, speakers and other aspects of the Symposium.

The Tax Conference Planning Committee assists GWSCPA staff with planning our Tax Conference. Committee members will hold approximately three planning sessions, with each session lasting about an hour, to discuss sessions, speakers, and other aspects of the program.

Tax Section
The Tax Section helps GWSCPA members obtain guidance on tax issues ranging from technical questions to tax agency relations. The committee holds periodic technical sessions outside of tax season and represents the GWSCPA’s members in tax with local regulators and practitioner groups. Each technical meeting features a guest speaker and combines one hour of qualifying continuing professional education (CPE) on a relevant topic to committee members and their clients/organizations. A short meeting follows each session to discuss committee business.

Women's Leadership Section
The Women’s Leadership Section will assist in the organization and execution of GWSCPA’s Annual Women’s Leadership Conference & Awards Ceremony, along with the bi-monthly Roundtable Discussions to help raise awareness for females in the industry.

Young and Emerging Accountants Section
The YEA Committee exists to be the premier accounting organization that facilitates the establishment, development, and advancement of existing GWSCPA members who are either under 35 years old, new to the profession, or seeking to enter the profession. YEA members benefit from various leadership opportunities within the group and the community, technical and soft-skill continuing education sessions, and networking events with peers and industry leaders from the GWSCPA board.
