CPE SUBSTANTIATION

To earn the recommended CPE hours offered for each course, attendees must sign in and sign out electronically for in-person events and respond to the required number of attendance prompts for virtual events.

GWSCPA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes often reach capacity before the program date. If a course you wish to register for is full, you will be provided the option to add your name to a waitlist in case of cancellation or to be notified if we add another section of this course. If you would prefer to register by phone please contact us at 202-347-3050. Walk-in registrations on the day of the program are discouraged and only accepted if space allows and full payment is provided upon arrival.

FEES

Unless otherwise noted, the course registration fee includes instructions, course materials, and refreshments as noted below. GWSCPA members and members of other state CPA Societies are eligible for the member discount. If you wish to become a member of the GWSCPA join here. All AICPA members are eligible for an additional $30 discount on all AICPA courses as well and you must note your AICPA membership during registration.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

The GWSCPA will reschedule a session due to inclement weather only if federal government offices are closed or if the instructor’s travel is interrupted by inclement weather. The GWSCPA will do our best to notify all registrants by 7 AM on the day of a course if it has been cancelled due to inclement weather, but please also check local media for federal office closures. The GWSCPA follows the Federal Government with regard to determining inclement weather policy. What this means for events is that if the Government is closed, we are closed and events are cancelled. If there is a delay during the time in which an event would be held, that event is cancelled, unless it is a full day event. (A two hour delay means an 8 hr CPE will be on as scheduled, but a 2 hr program from 8-10 AM would be cancelled.) Finally, if the Government is on "liberal leave" we are open as usual and no events are cancelled. If the event must be rescheduled due to inclement weather and you are unable to attend the rescheduled event or another current fiscal year event, the GWSCPA will issue a full refund. Any major event (such as a conference) scheduled at an offsite venue (such as a hotel) will only be cancelled due to a catastrophic event, and will proceed as scheduled during inclement weather unless public transportation has been suspended and/or the venue forces cancellation.

COVID PROTOCOLS (UPDATED 3/16/2022)

For all in person events, the GWSCPA first adheres to any Covid protocols of the venue. Barring any venue requirements, our events have no vaccine or Covid testing requirements, and masks are optional. Should there be a change to CDC Community Transmission rates that indicates any one of these six local jurisdictions where the majority of our membership resides has moved into High Transmission, masks will become required for attendance: DC, Montgomery County and Prince George’s County, MD; Alexandria City, Arlington and Fairfax County, VA. We will use the current CDC tracker to monitor transmission rates by jurisdiction.
