Overview

When it comes to being GAAP compliance, change is the only constant. This session is designed to provide the participant with the latest developments and insights into accounting matters that relate to nonprofit organizations. The session will focus, among other things, on lessons learned from the adoption of the new lease standard (ASC 842), the new rules under the current expected credit loss (CECL) model, and changes to crypto currency presentation/valuation. The session will also touch upon recent changes to the auditing standards as it relates to risk assessment procedures and group audits.

Thomas Sneeringer, Partner, RSM US LLP

Tom has 30+ years of professional experience in the nonprofit industry. As a partner in the assurance practice, he currently leads audit engagements of nonprofit entities with a focus on charitable and education-related institutions. Tom also is one of RSM’s leading resources on Uniform Guidance audits. Based on Tom’s experience, he was selected to serve a three-year term on the AICPA’s Governmental Audit Quality Center and currently serves on the AICPA’s Not-for-Profit Industry Conference planning committee, overseeing the “Yellow Book” track content. Tom has a passion for teaching and approaches each topic in a manner that allows participants to find the relevance for them and how they can apply it to their particular situations.
