Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to support and facilitate the Accounting/Finance side of the organization’s contract management compliance and assure costs are properly classified and recorded.  The primary responsibility will be to review and monitor a portfolio of PCORI awards. The position will perform financial analysis and reporting function in order to manage all PCORI research award portfolios from inception to completion. Day to day operation includes general ledger accounting, financial account reconciliation and analytical review and financial reporting.  This position will review research invoices, prepare variance analytical reports, and support internal and external stakeholders’ interest.  Must be able to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities ·       Monitor financial compliance of PCORI contracts. ·       Review contract invoices to assure expenses charged against contract are in compliance with terms and conditions. ·       Assure direct and indirect costs are allowable, if applicable. ·       Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and respective legislative regulations. ·       Work directly with contract awardees to resolve invoicing issues as needed. ·       Work closely with internal stakeholders in managing, tracking, monitoring, and reporting financial data, as requested. ·       Maintain system data for all contracts. ·       Maintain and update related financial spreadsheets and databases, produce reports as required. ·       Ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and recording of expenses to the general ledger. ·       Identify new contracts and apply necessary accounting codes. ·       Support preparation of month-end accruals for assigned portfolio and follow up on outstanding invoices. ·       Prepare project reports on a regular and ad hoc basis. ·       Serve as financial liaison to assigned PCORI business units, as needed. ·       Support annual budgeting process. ·       Support the review of financial results with assigned business units. ·       Perform contract closeout duties for assigned contracts. ·       Support the preparation of contract closeout dashboards tracking key closeout metrics. ·       Work directly with awardees to reconcile final expenses and facilitate refunds, as needed. ·       Assist in developing training materials, and hosting training sessions, on invoicing and contract closeout, for internal stakeholders and contract awardees. ·       Perform other ad hoc analysis as required.   Incumbent(s) in this position may be required to perform other duties and special assignments not specifically stated above.

Required Skills

·       Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles, a plus.  ·       Ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines while working with multiple business units.  ·       Must be very detailed oriented and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. ·       Proactively identify tasks and provide status updates to management. ·       Proficiency with general ledger accounting system, payable system, Excel, Word and Power Point

Required Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred ·       3-5 years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting. ·       Strong contract experience (especially government contracts or cost reimbursable contracts) preferred. ·       Non-profit and foundation experience preferred   The health and safety of our employees is a top priority. As part of that commitment, PCORI requires all employees, regardless of remote work status, to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
