Staff Accountant
Position Summary: The Staff Accountant works directly with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance to ensure the weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly accounting functions of the APS, SPR, PAS Meeting, SPR Regional Societies, International Pediatric Research Foundation, and the Pediatric Research Foundation are completed accurately and on a timely basis. As a key contributor to the Finance team, the StfAcct provides support to the Society and PAS departments on finance matters. The position is full-time, and occasional travel (~ 1-2 trips per year) is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts payable processing, general ledger maintenance, deposits and reconciliations of checking & investment accounts, semi-monthly payroll uploads, and monthly financial statement preparation for all not-for-profit entities
· Accounting of funds received for pre-registration, onsite registration, exhibits, and sponsorship monies for multiple scientific/academic conferences
- Prepare Form 1099’s for all not-for-profit entities
- Assist with budget planning and uploads
- Set up ACH payments and initiate wire transfers for stipend payments and employee reimbursements
- Assist the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance with external audits and other projects as directed
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
Experience and Skills:
- Prefer 3+ years in an accounting role, experience in non-profit organizations is preferred, but not required.
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct accounting software is a plus.
- Ability to work in a collegial, small staff environment where energetic collaboration and dependability are essential.
- Demonstrated experience working productively in remote environments.
- Strong organization skills and consistent, reliable attention to detail.
- At ease with simultaneous, multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and alteration of priorities.
- Ability to manage highly confidential information.
- Self-starter who can work independently and achieve high standards to meet multiple deadlines.
- Proven record of sound judgment, analysis, problem-solving, discernment, and decision-making.
- Proven ability to communicate in a timely, reliable, accurate, and professional manner verbally and in writing with board members, senior leaders, mid-level managers, and external and internal staff
