Government Shutdown Resources
The federal government officially entered a shutdown at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2025 — triggered by lapses in federal funding — with the potential for widespread impacts on government agencies and ripple effects across the accounting profession and community.
The AICPA has advocated for contingency planning to mitigate these disruptions, especially during critical tax filing periods and recommended relief measures that are fair, reasonable and practical to mitigate the negative impact of the shutdown on taxpayers and the accounting community.
The federal government shutdown situation is continuously evolving. We are closely monitoring the developments.
We will continue to keep you updated and encourage you to share any guidance or resources that we have missed to us by email to kbedell@gwscpa.org.
